Will this help fight back with scams and phishing?

Posted Wednesday, August 22, 2012, at 5:08 PM

I don't know if or how much it will help, but every time I get a scam or phishing e-mail, I send it to the customer service department of the ISP from which it originated.

Will they act on it? I don't know, but it makes me feel like I am doing something.

It takes me so much time just to find the pertinent emails in my inbox, I couldn't imagine actually bothering to email all of those ISP's. A lot of them originate in foreign countries anyway where scamming Americans is a main industry. Keep up the good fight though. I'm rootin' for ya.

So far they have been coming through earthlink. I don't worry about those who are just trying to sell something, I just block those. I turn in those who are obviously trying to scam you by saying they're someone else. Bank confirmations, I.R.S., etc.
