How much do radio and TV talk show hosts affect election results?

Posted Monday, November 12, 2012, at 4:25 PM

This question came up at the end of one of my other posts that begged to be answered by you. Do you think certain talk radio or TV shows helped or hurt the candidates?

Which ones and why?

Do you think people listen to these to gather information, hear opposing sides or reaffirm their own beliefs?

It seem as if conservative hosts are more popular. I find it difficult to find liberal ones or am I listening to the wrong stations locally?

Who are your favorite?

Steve, you won't find anything but right-wing conservatives on local radio. Republicans pretty much dominate the political talk radio shows, especially in a state as red as Tennessee. But like the saying goes....Just because McDonalds sells the most hamburgers, doesn't mean they have the best burgers town. I suggest you try listening to Stephanie Miller. She has a morning radio show that can also be seen on Current TV. I listen to her on satellite radio. Also Ed Shultz is pretty good. Those are probably my two favorites.

Yes talk radio and tv shows hurts candidates.People like Fox news ,Limbaugh,Hannity,Beck and Orielly helped Romney loose the election. That hatred and racism turned people off.Fox news is not fair and balanced. They dont tell the news as it is they tell their opinion as it is facts. They dont know what happened in Bengazi but spinned lies about.Every thing is a conspiracy to them. Some times I watch Fox to get a laugh. The look on Roves face election night was priceless.I prefer CNN.
