'Tis the season for coming together.

Posted Saturday, November 17, 2012, at 8:43 AM

Not that we should need a season to show concern, love, and friendship but this snapshot of PITA and Big Boy this morning speaks volumes.

If you look a little closer, you will see PITA's paw holding on to Big Boy's side while Big Boy is licking PITA's face.

We do not know why or how they became buddies, but this has been going on for a few years now. Often PITA looks like she is crushing Big Boy, but he does not seem to mind and hangs in there with her.

Wouldn't it be nice if opposites and sometimes arch enemies could take a moment to see the "softer" side of each other?

Back in the "days" (1968) there was a song written by Jim Post and performed by he and his wife Cathy. It is still a favorite of mine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friend_%26_...

The main theme to me was wrapped up in these lines:

I knew a man that I did not care for

And then one day this man gave me a call

We sat and talked about things on our mind

And now this man he is a friend of mine

If we could have more of this between warring factions, out of the glare of the press where posturing is all important, maybe, just maybe......

You are absolutely correct and it most certainly would have to be out of the sight of the News Media(all sources), or it would have and entirely different feel to it.

Great picture Steve, good chance to do a little comedy.

Mine would be, 'hey Big Boy, would you like to come up and see me sometime'.

I think we can have fun with this before it goes 'tube'.

Big Boy may be PITA's closest friend right now. One of our dogs is getting old and had several seizures today.

We will visit the vet tomorrow and I am also bringing another of our dogs who seems to have been in a fight with coyotes. She was extremely sore and we gave her antibiotics for the small bites she had, but this weekend we noticed her shoulder blade seems to be dislocated.

Not sure how that happened in a fight, so maybe she was rolled by a vehicle instead. She should survive to pal around with PITA, unless it requires extensive surgery. I am afraid she is not on our insurance program.

Glad to report that the seizure dog is up and at 'em this morning. If we had not seen it, we would not have known anything was different. Makes me wonder if this has been going on for a while.

I got another snapshot of PITA sleeping head to head with another cat. Surely they do not know what is going on and lend comfort, do they?

In the winter another cat sleeps snuggled up against whatever dog she can. Guess she knows the meaning of a "three dog night".

It could be that my dog does not like the sound of my ringing cell phone. Sitting on the porch yesterday, he picked up the phone, ran across the street, dug a hole and buried it. My neighbor said we should get cell phones for our two dogs, so they could text each other?

Sounds like one smart dog. I should try that.

We did'nt have turkey for dinner today (Thanksgiving). Our rooster Sam ran off with our turkey Hilda. We could not find them. Love birds could be anywhere.

Someone knew it was Turkey Day and that did not mean they were being honored.
