Imagine, he is listening to you!
I would like to leave this post up, to grow and evolve, so please, try to be constructive. Talk to this man, not each other. I would certainly not waste my time arguing with the guy next to me if I had the opportunity to share my thoughts with him. IF by chance it ever got the attention of the Nation, wouldn’t it be great to show the level-headedness, common sense, and human decency that seems to be so elusive in conversations these days?
Here is the start of what I would say to Mr. Trump, if I had the chance. Would you like to write your own mini letter? It does not have to agree with me or the next person, nor does it have to be on the same topics, just show civility, your own personal thoughts and not parroted ideas from the mainstream press or social networks.
My little letter would never have a chance of being seen, but maybe 10-20 mini-letters will, so contribute in a way that might, just might make a difference..
“I voted for you but reality is, I voted against the other side more than I voted FOR you. I liked many of your ideas, but your delivery leaves much to be desired. While our society has become much more forgiving with profanity and “colorful” speech, it is NOT the example I expect to hear from the President of the greatest nation on earth.
I know vulgar talk as well as the next person and occasionally find myself falling into it because of the influence my immediate environment may have on me, but you are in a very refined place right now, very public and very influential. I know some folk who can’t get past your crass delivery to hear your message so PLEASE, rise to the office, please!
I realize that our collective “belt needs tightening” and I believe the trend needs to continue so it needs to be moderated for longevity. We don’t have to try to fix it all at one time.
A prime example is healthcare. The ACA has not made health care more affordable to me, but it has helped some and the other side has done a much better job selling it than your administration has done trying to disband it.
It does not have to be done overnight, nor should it considering the serious consequences of getting it wrong once again. WHAT IS THE RUSH? If you want to play a constructive (not destructive) part, get involved in hammering out the compromise, not criticizing, just as the other side is doing to you.
Stop them from playing the games that politicians play. Make the results one they THEY must live with as well. THAT will help them stay focused on REAL issues and not trivial back-fighting or slipping non-related items into the bill.
Sometimes to get where you want to be you have to appear to be much more one sided than you really are, so compromise in the middle seems to appease more folk. While it too is a game, it is a part of the human negotiation process. Just don’t lose track of where you really wanted to be, rather than let it get out of hand.”
There is so much more to say, but just as I started out saying, it does not have to be addressed all at one time. What would your first concern be to the President of the United States?
