  • Dear Mr. Trump,

I voted for you because I want the best for our country. You were, and are, the best choice by far. Had you not run, I likely would have wasted my vote on whatever RINO got the nomination. I have been a lifelong Independent, never a card-carrying member of any party. I doubt I could have made myself vote for the Libertarian or Green people. And I would have moved to Canada or Mexico (like you, tho I am white, I am not a racist) before I would have voted for Hillary. In reality, you were the only choice for those of us that won't tolerate continuing the downhill slide we have been on for years.

I know you get warned daily about toning it down with tweets, language, etc. A lot of the people telling you this are the same people who told us for months how you couldn't be nominated then how you couldn't win. In my opinion, that advice is worth what you paid for it. You got where you are now by being you. Might as well keep being you cause you can't be anyone else. Besides, just being you is shaking up DC and that is a really big reason we the people put you there. Remember, Frank Sinatra did it his way; you should too.

Now, regarding specific issues. For those that can focus thru all the white noise and obstructionism of some that are better suited to sipping hot chocolate and coloring between the lines, we can see that you have already started turning this ship around. You are the most tireless President I have seen. And your hard work is showing to anyone who bothers to look. Specifically talking about healthcare, you do need to get something done. Doesn't have to be all at once. Obamacare is dead and the stench is overwhelming. Get it repealed and some sort of replacement in place, then proceed from there to get a good final result. But beware. Your sneaky lying predecessor set it up as an entitlement. The longer you wait to rip it out by the roots, the harder it will be. And of course there is tax reform, the Wall, immigration reform, and the other things you talked about at your rallies. Just keep plugging away at them.

Now a cautionary note. First let me say, I hope you retire in January, 2025 and have a long and happy retirement. But I'm sure you are aware there are some "Americans" out there that wish you harm. There are too many people out there that don't have enough self respect to keep from illegally protesting and threatening you. God forbid they harm you or any more Americans than they already have. When deciding how to deal with them, I would ask you to think of one of our Founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson. To paraphrase him, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and (wannabe) tyrants (the rioters, etc). If push comes to shove I'm sure you won't hesitate to put down their insurrection. They should not be a bit surprised when they realize you will shove back twice as hard as they push.

In closing, I wish you good luck (not that you really need it) in making America great again. Already for the past 5 months I have been able to once again say I am proud to be an American. If there ever is anything I can do to help, please don't hesitate to let me know.

  • Dear President Ronald J. Trump,

Who am I to write you a letter telling YOU what I think You should say or do or how to behave? You are a successful Billionaire who has already gone where I will never go! You didn't become a successful and rich Business man by doing what other people told you to do. You set a goal and worked to achieve it where many others have failed and fallen by the roadside.

A Rich person doesn't become Successful because he has money. He becomes rich because he is a successful person who worked to reach his goal.

A Successful man looks for people who are better than he is to entertain, because he isn't looking for followers. He is looking for leaders that he can look up to for advice and guidance.

As the President of these United States of America, I never dreamed that the American people would disrespect someone who has done everything in his power to make America Great Again. I knew Obama divided the country, but I thought it was only temporary, but seems to be here to stay. People call you an idiot when they should be calling themselves idiots. They can't see what you are doing for all the reverse racist and hate in their hearts and mind.

I take my "THIS IS NO ORDINARY PERSON YOU ARE DEALING WITH" hat off to you! In spite of the hatred and stupidity of the American citizens, judges, and politicians, and threats of impeachment and replacement by the 25th. You have stomped right on through their insurrection and refused to be stopped from doing the job you took on as the POTUS because you have become a goal reaching successful human being!

I want to thank you for all that you have done for Americans (including the ones who are against everything you have done and doing for them). I served in the Military, but not to come home and watch the Obama divided people make fools out of themselves. They are trying to make America look foolish but it is back firing on them just like everything else they are doing. Once a loser, always a loser!

Thank you again Mr. Trump and may God bless you and your family.

  • Their loss. And to beat it all, lazarus was engaging in a meaningful conversation about healthcare reform in the original post.

  • Fare, I will try to get back to the health care discussion. I think it had the potential to be interesting. We will have to move through it expediently, as I have a job coming up that will keep me busy around the clock for several weeks. But, I thought I might add something to this thread first.

    President Trump;

You have expressed a desire to have the media talk about the many accomplishments of your tenure thus far. I also think that would be worthwhile. Unfortunately your intemperate tweets perpetuating your juvenile feud with the free press have not only distracted your attention from your agenda, but have also done so with the media and your own followers. Assuming that you have a purpose, and are not just indulging in childish outbursts, there are two positives for you. First, your core followers love it when you behave in a childish manner. Anything that is upsetting to people outside your reality fan base gives them great joy. Second, it keeps the free press occupied with something other than an objective measure of your successes. Do I miss the mark here?

But, lets take a look at your many "great accomplishments." You like to talk about your "great jobs numbers." There is no denying that the raw number of jobs being added looks impressive. But, it is also a fact that the number of jobs being added since you took office lag substantially behind the number of jobs added last year under Obama. During the campaign you referred to those numbers as "terrible." How can a smaller number this year then be considered "great?"

You like to trumpet (smiley face) the "value added" to the stock market. Now, this is just me, but it seems like stock market "value" is not a tangible asset. Haven't we learned over the last century or so that stock market "value" can vanish overnight?

The "strong economy" has thus far only continued the trend you inherited. I suppose there are some congratulations in order for not having derailed it overnight. But, thus far you have not implemented any of the radical changes that were promised. Predictions about the effect those would have are only that, predictions. Do you suppose you will ever focus long enough on one thing to actually make those changes? I might be overly conservative, but if we have a strong economy already, there does not seem to be much to gain by fixing something that is not broke.

You seem to be really proud of our "success with ISIS." But, I am not really certain what you are referring to. If it is the gradual reduction of the "Caliphate," in particular the retaking of Mosul by Iraq (and their new friend Iran), that was not only well under way before you took office, it was inevitable. ISIS does not have the military resources to hold territory. And they are about the only middle eastern government without a major power backing them. Their only threat to the west, including us, are those random terrorist attacks. And those, no one can completely eliminate. If you are referring to us assassinating terrorist leadership, we have been doing that through multiple administrations. It seems like new leaders pop up as fast as we can kill the existing ones off. Can we really call it success until there are no more?

Now, I will give you kudos on the border. I assume you are referring to the border with Mexico. I have always considered the open border to be bad public policy, although it has been embraced by successive administrations from both parties. Hopefully the silly idea of building a wall has been eliminated by the unsurprising impact of merely having an administration with the will to enforce immigration laws. However, while we are on the topic of immigration, I have noticed that we are catching a lot of desirable immigrants in the same net. I believe that we benefit from having the best of the best moving here from other countries, and I think we should make it easier for them, not more difficult. As a student of history, it has not been lost on me that the dominant powers throughout history have seen substantial immigration. From Rome to Brittania, the infusion of fresh blood has always had a salutary effect.

Opening up public land to the extraction industries. You don't mention this among your accomplishments, but I think it needs to be addressed. You do know that the public lands belong to the American people, right? The extraction industries are not hungering for access to that land because it is the only place in America with natural resources. They are anxious for access because they can obtain those resources for a pittance. Resources on private land have to be paid for. I think it would be better for us to preserve some of the nation's riches for our descendants. But, if we must turn them over to the extraction industries now, won't you at least make them pay? If we got real value for the assets that we are giving away, it could make a dent on the national debt. Like I said, those resources belong to the American people, and we should all see some benefit from their use. Our inheritance should not be used to make a handful of wealthy people even more wealthy.

The environment. Eliminating all regulations will not bring coal back. It will only make this a worse place to live. Coal is in decline worldwide, because better alternatives have been developed. I don't take issue with examining regulations to see if they are effective or necessary. But just throwing them out without a thought is not a good idea. I do not believe that your core followers actually hate the environment. They just like seeing the environmentalists upset. We don't need to wait until we cannot breathe the air or drink the water to decide this was a bad idea. Surely you have been to countries that have done that to themselves. I have, and it not something we want here. Not even your most ardent worshiper would like it.

Divisiveness. The whole polarization thing is far from your fault. Politicians have been playing that game for a long time, and the results are painfully obvious. I think int he beginning it was only the believers that took it seriously. Politicians used it as a tool to get elected, while in practice they could work together. But, as you well know, the electorate as a whole is not that smart. And the most ardent took the whole evil alternative act to heart. Eventually it got so bad that we now have elected people who feel the same way. You are setting a bad example. Depicting the non-lapdog media as "the enemy of the country" might be politically convenient. But, it is a bad message. When the Democrats make overtures to work out a bipartisan compromise on healthcare, dismissing them out of hand is not leadership. Especially when your "dealmaking" demonstration in the House fell flat on its face, and you have not personally contributed since. Healthcare is a huge, and serious issue facing the country. Lets face it. We are starting into the seventh month, and so far the Republicans working alone have produced two plans that are even worse than Obamacare. One only passed the House, and would have no chance in the Senate. The other can't even pass in the Senate that wrote it. You have to know; everyone has to know; that merely repealing Obamacare with the promise of creating a replacement "later this summer" is nonsense. They have not been able to craft a replacement in 7 years, it will not happen in 7 weeks. This is your chance to lead. Everyone working together are not going to create a plan that makes everyone happy. But they might be able to put one together that will pass. This is your chance to demonstrate the ability to lead something bigger than a rally hall filled with the faithful.

Lastly, is the whole clown act. I have always assumed that we were so strong that the US would be the leader of the free world my whole life. I never dreamed that our status could decline this fast. Ten months ago, our allies trusted us, our enemies feared us, and the world respected us. Now the world laughs at us, our allies distrust us, and our enemies are vying to expand and fill the vacuums we are leaving. Most of this is because of your juvenile behavior. You once said that your followers would continue to worship at your feet, even if you just walked out on the street and shot somebody. Based on what I see, that is absolutely true. Do you not think they would still follow you if you acted like a responsible adult?

There is so much more I would like to say. But I know you have a hard time reading more than a paragraph, unless your name is in it. And I probably used far too many big words.
