  • Well, Steve, I vividly remember where I was and what I was doing when I first heard something odd was going on. And clearly recall watching both towers fall. And I remember how all of us came together as Americans. It made me think about how the greatest generation responded to WW2. I know we have seen some coming together with the hurricanes and I hope and pray I am wrong, but I really doubt we could do it now like back in '42 or for 9/11.

It is hard to imagine how an innocent child can learn to hate and do so much evil to people minding their own business. I can only think of two possible explanations. They may be taught to hate like this by their parents, who are too afraid to sacrifice themselves for their beliefs, but quite willing to sacrifice their offspring. Some deep-seated mental or moral deficiency would be a prerequisite for this. The other possible explanation is that the perps were never innocent, but evil incarnate. Could be both. Either way, we need to eliminate the threat or learn to live with it.

  • What really makes me wonder is there are a few that come to America, learn our ways and experience the freedom first hand. They make friends and can even fall in love, yet still hate enough to kill because of an ideology that if they are a martyr it's rewarding!....I just don't get it!

Wisdom is so easy to obtain, yet retention seems to be lacking in those who experience paradise, then murder someone and give that freedom up to either be killed themselves or blow themselves up to harm others around them!

Here lately, in large cities like Chicago, it's been our law enforcement officers that have become the target or crowds someone either drives into, or pulls out a weapon and starts hurting others.

Then there are countries that have no social outlets for the rest of the world so they can see the freedom first hand. Oppression like in N Korea from a dictator is a good example, they are so closed off so from blindness they hate. Their dictator Kim whomever has definitely hide the rest of the world and created a hate which makes me think how they can hate us and have never met us! Geez, he has to have so much greed to risk all his people at war by spewing the hate like he does, yet they worship him! Again, I don't get it!...isn't a free society better, surly he knows that!

I believe the internet and social media can and will bring changes to the younger generations eventually. However, it will take time, and even then there will still be martyrdom in some cases, from a few that lack the ability to reason and those that refuse to be civil due to fear of change!

Since 9/11 happened I believe Americans have changed tremendously in the way we treat others, however it will take another generation or two before racial divides fade and the bigotry we possess dwindles enough for us to unconditionally love one another a little more! The generation just appearing hopefully will grasp it and then change will be natural for them. It would be awesome to witness a day without seeing a bias in any form...

There will be issues of another kind I'm sure but, hopefully by then there will be acceptance of each other on a completely different level!...Now if only we can share the freedom that is possible with those that are oppressed, we might all finally be one with just different climates and playing fields in this world!

I was prep cooking that morning expecting a huge lunch crowd in Hope Sound Florida off Jupiter Island just north of West Palm....the television was on behind the bar when the news came on about the first plane....it froze me and glued my feet to the floor....the first thing I did was grab my phone to call home, I remember feeling like we were under attack and needing to make sure the family was aware! "Wow, at the confidence us Americans have" I remember thinking, it was one of the busiest lunches so far for our restaurant! Everyone was out and about and those in the restaurant were watching, wondering what would come next!....Well, we found out alright, and we are still fighting over there....I just don't get it!
