  • Oh Steve,

I am so sorry to hear this. What a nightmare! Aren't there free neutering clinics? Does the Tractor Supply charge for the service?

Did you ever try that Go Fund Me Page? I remember someone else telling me almost the exact story only they didn't have the number of lives to take care of as you do.

    I would like to make a donation….

The other question is, " With all the changes going on in our household "? None of my business but sounds concerning.

    Coffee ?

  • One of our readers suggested the gofundme. I opened it and they donated but I did not feel right about the way it was set up and closed it. They were refunded. I may revisit it now.

Coffee might be good but scheduling will be tough at the moment.I could not even finish this post without 45 minutes of sidetracks. Mommy not doing well.

  • Have you heard the saying, 'Hi, I'm the government and I'm here to help'??? Just sayin . . . Best of luck. :)

  • An interesting few days. :-) Interestingly, doctor says that the elderly can get a UTI (infection) that can cause the disorientation and weakness we are seeing right now, so we are getting some antibiotic to try. Fingers crossed.

So far I have not heard back from the "government" and no one has shown up at my door so..... maybe I am over sensitive. They did say that they had to ask and inform. Oh well, time will tell.

Thanks all who have written here and privately.

  • Good luck Steve. Surely the government has better things to do than harass you for helping God's creatures. I would like to take 1 or 2 off your hands but currently have as many cats as I can handle.I don't know off hand of any no-kill shelters in the area, but if there are, I could help you round them up.

  • Good luck Steve. You are just too kind. When I reached the number of animals I could care for, I had to stop taking more. It is hard to say no, but I cannot take care of every abandoned dog.

My experience with BC animal control was that they were good people. If your animals are not starving in cages or otherwise seriously neglected, I cannot believe they will compound your problems instead of trying to help. I know there are probably different people now, but that is a job for people with kind hearts.

  • They are not in cages, those inside have a 4,000' playhouse, those outside have about 2,000' under roof with two 4'x6' houses just for them (one even has a window), both have two entrance/exits and multi layered, carpeted shelving to allow for more comfort.

They have 3 heated water bowls, 3 unheated and about 50+- eating bowls that are filled with a combination of wet/dry food twice a day.

We even fenced in an approximate 50'X50' area that attaches to our garage so they have a semi coyote/dog/predator free area that surrounds the other cat houses and protects entrance to the garage. Coyotes could still get in but they are slowed down enough that most cats should be able to reach shelter.

We "patrol" the property and have a talk radio station going 24 hours to make predators uncomfortable. Of course, that could be considered inhuman treatment :-) but they seem to adapt.

  • Depends on the radio station…….

-- Posted by Palindrome on Fri, Apr 6, 2018, at 1:42 PM
  • If there is a 24 hour talk station other than 99.7 within range, they might love the change

  • Come on, Steve, you wouldn't want to poison their little cat minds, would you? Leave it on 99.7. Haha.

  • 104.5... the predators have a definite cat link!

  • Knoxville 104.5?

-- Posted by stevemills on Sun, Apr 8, 2018, at 6:49 AM
  • Sports station out of Nashville.

  • Sports might providen the rise and fall of sounds that confuse. I will see if I can find it. Between 24 talk, music and sports it should confuse coyotes too
