  • Do you see racists remarks? I sure don't but apparently Democrats do. I heard a Republican talking about the success of previous or current politicians and his comment was that you don't want to "monkey with this".

I did not know any of the politicians since they were in Florida but the Democrats saw a race card to play. THEY are the ones calling their candidate a name, yet they can't see it.

Do they see what they want to see?

Do they purposely make mountains out of molehills? Hmmm, maybe that is racist as well.

  • The press is having a ball with it. Do a search, look at the headlines, then find a recording to listen to the actual words and context. It is insane!

  • Aw, come on Steve, they are just up to their usual old monkey shines. 🐒

  • Historians and everyone on this post knows that using "monkey and ape" when referring to African americans has racist origins. This has weaved its way through centuries of slavery, segration, dehumanization and discrimination of blacks. DeSantis should have known better.Does he realize diversity is increasing in Florida as well as the rest of America.

  • I can hardly believe any one can actually believe such things are meant in that way in any normal conversation. We can't continue to go back in history and drag up such trash, just to try to justify our hatred.

Great Father, who made all races, look kindly on the whole human family and take away the arrogance and hatred which separates us from our brothers. In the name of Christ Amen.

  • When I originally heard the comment I heard nothing that caught my attention about race. Then I was told there was controversy and I thought because he referred to his opponent as socialist.

At this point I still did not know the race of either. Then it was explained to me. Thinking I am very naive, I searched these terms on the net. Only one (1) out of 12 referred to race. ( except the news hysteria about the comment)

From this I reasoned that the only reason one might think about race was because the person interpreting it this way was actually a racist. ON ANY SIDE

AND the first people to respond to this seems to have been the liberal press. They saw racism through their tinted glasses.

Since 11 out of 12 search results did not mention race, I also could concluded that this was a forced issue by the press, not a normal one as proclaimed.

Did you also know that refering to someone as “articulate” was also racist?

Someone who sees racism in so many harmless words needs counseling. They will work themselves up into a fever and conceivably fall off the cliff.

Disclaimer: any words used in this post were not intended as racial slurs..

By the way, the person who said this was referring to Socialism. I did not hear him mention his opponent and say that HE was doing anything. Socialism would “muck things up”. Is that better?

-- Posted by stevemills on Thu, Aug 30, 2018, at 1:18 PM
  • Unreal, I suspect with your substandard reading comprehension skills, if you actually did read or listen to the tape, you probably still wouldn't be able to comprehend what everyone else (except your rabid left wing buddies) knows. And that is the fact that he was referring to socialism, his opponent's philosophy and not to the opponent himself.

  • "The last thing we need to do is monkey this thing up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting the state.

"That is not going to work. That's not going to be good for Florida, so I'm going to fight for what I believe in because I think I'm the guy who can lead Florida in a good direction."

    Ron DeSantis

Only a complete moron, or someone looking to claim aggrieved status could possibly conjure a racist intent with those lines.

No surprise then that LBR instantly supported the racist allegation.

Here's a long list of democrats talking about "monkeying around", and I don't remember liberals getting bleeding hemorrhoids then.

    https://townhall.com/tipsheet/katiepavlich/2018/08/30/flashback-heres-a-bunch-of...

The simple fact is the democrat candidate is pro-socialism (freebies), so deadbeat loser democrats latched on to the first thing they thought would elicit a visceral reaction from their sheep... er... followers.

  • Quite do you think Dumpty trying to correct a wrong by giving farmers welfare is socialism?

How great do you think those 30 thousand federal employees lives are today that was denied their cost of living raise by Dumpty? But he considered spending over 90 million for a parade. If he is so facinated with soldiers he should have been one.

Publisher at National Enquire granted immunity in Cohen case. Seems there were more damaging Dumpty stories he paid to bury in that safe.

  • Lets be real, I hate to ask because it will cause more criticisms but who do you admire right now? If you could choose one person to be President, regardless of if they ran previously or not, who would that be?

-- Posted by stevemills on Thu, Aug 30, 2018, at 9:14 PM
  • I asked myself the same question, and I don’t have a clear answer yet. If anyone else wants to jump in with their favorite, please do so.

They don’t have to be a politician. Who do you admire most and think would fill the position nicely?

The first one to come to mind for me has already been in the position, and is no longer alive. I can’t think of an equal just yet.

-- Posted by stevemills on Thu, Aug 30, 2018, at 9:25 PM
  • My first choice would be Donald Trump! He is the ONLY man that I know of who can take all the crap coming from the left. They have accused him of just about every thing, yet no one can bring any charges against him. Why are there no charges against him if there are so many crimes he has committed.

Even the left can NOT take what they have been putting out. They are going crazier as each day rolls around. Nothing is working for them and still they have nothing they stand for except impeach 45.

As hard as they have tried, they just couldn't monkey up Trump winning the election. It's going to be a very long 27 more months, and that's if he doesn't run again.

What will the left ever do if Trump is elected for another 4 years? They did Monkey with the DNC and the Hillary Clinton emails, and did manage to Monkey that up too.

I was always told "a wise Monkey doesn't Monkey with Another Monkey's Monkey!"

That's all I needed to hear. It has kept me out of trouble all these years!

I do believe we have more serious problems than the word monkey.

Besides, didn't that Mr. Darwin say we all came from monkeys or apes? I never believed that either. Nor do I believe in the reincarnation theory. That would mean there is no God, No Heaven nor Hell and no resurrection nor rapture.

Maybe that is something the left will run on. All the free people under capitalism will be reincarnated and come back as slaves under socialism/communism.

Nah, They wouldn't Monkey with something like that.

  • Steve,

My first pick is another 4 years of Trump, who is doing a great job, despite being attacked from every angle.

My second choice is Ben Shapiro. He is a strict constitutionalist and a seasoned debater who leaves his opponents battered and lying in the dust.

-- Posted by quietmike on Fri, Aug 31, 2018, at 4:28 AM
  • Sui, Your creative use of the word monkey made me smile. I just don’t agree with the left’s attack or interpretation of its’ use.

QuietMike, it is the first time I have looked closely at Ben Shapiro. Interesting fellow and not afraid of controversy.

Ironically, he does not approve of Trump.

On a side note to my friends who do not agree with me, don’t hold back on my account. I believe we can disagree civilly and I know you have intelligent thoughts that will be a positive contribution to our conversation.

  • I remember way back when in movies with a Southern setting when a person used the term "monkey or ape", they were referring to blacks; I'm suspecting this is where the media picked up on it.

-- Posted by Tyger on Fri, Aug 31, 2018, at 7:53 AM
  • Steve, I also would pick Reagan as the next choice. Even in his current state of being he would be better than anyone I can think of. But Ben would probably be pretty good. As far as a third choice, I guess I would volunteer but really wouldn't want to do it. The main reason would be to have fun ticking off the libs.

-- Posted by fair share on Fri, Aug 31, 2018, at 8:23 AM
  • I recall that as well. Wonder why Hollywood never boycotted those old movies insisting it be removed from the film?

But it has not been a mainstream comment and I doubt if most people today watch those movies so someone is fostering a new interpretation.

They call it a “wink, wink” comment among racists but I think it is actually a racist “wink, wink” between liberals.

Everyone try this....in Google images, type in "Obama monkey".

These are the images of President Obama and The First Lady I saw posted by republicans on social media endlessly during Obama's presidency.

Also recently, the Secretary of a Republican Committee in Pennsylvania called NFL players "baboons", and suggested they "go back to Africa".

So when another republican politican makes a comment along these same lines, it's easy to see why some people might come to the conclusion of it being another racist comment.

-- Posted by RocketValentine on Fri, Aug 31, 2018, at 9:50 AM
  • It all stems from all the Nationalities we have allowed to come to America. There are so many other people in our country, that the blacks feel jilted. No one makes any remarks about the blacks, so they have to say everything is racist to get recognized as a race again.

What with all the Muslims crying Racist and all the Mexicans crying Racist the poor black people don't have a leg to stand on. They have been put on the back burner as just another of the races now.

The whites are the only ones who seem to be referred to as the racist race. They say the white race is the superior race by calling them (white supremacist), so they all yell racist against, yup, the white race only.

When have you heard of the Mexicans being racist? What about the Muslims being racist? Are the Cubans in Florida ever called racist? What about the Haitians and Puerto Ricans?

We have so many other Nationalists in our country that the blacks are ignored now. They are being taken advantage of just like the whites. They are getting jealous and feel left out. The truth is the Mexicans came to America and have taken the jobs of many Americans, including the Black businesses and trades.

I lost my business to illegal Mexicans years ago. I was at the age of retirement so I took an early retirement and haven't regretted it at all.

Now I get my SS check that the Mexicans are paying for. I bet they didn't count on that!

The Muslim have to work too, so just whose job do you think they are taking?

Yet after all the smoke clears, who is the superior race? Only one race is recognized as being superior. It is racist to refer to a race as being superior, but that is what all the races do when they call the white "white supremacists".

It isn't the white being racist, it is all the other races calling the white - Supremacists!

So when you want to see who is being racist, stop and think who is calling who what and why?

    ----

There is a HUGE difference between "obama monkey" and the way "monkey this up" was used by Desantis.

    Context is everything.

The only folks who actually thought this was racist were perpetual victims looking to be offended, and puppets who believed the first group without examining it for themselves.

    Context is everything.

Yeah, that seems to be a favorite excuse for politicians when they say something really stupid...."It was taken out of context!"

How would you put into context the statement from the Republican County Official that called the protesting NFL players "baboons" that should "go back to Africa"?

Please tell me how this is stupid. Unless a person is a deadbeat loser looking for the freebies under socialism it is sound advice.

  • RV could you give the complete quote for that Republican “official”.

If it says the same thing as your abbreviated version I would say it was a stupid, racist comment.

However, I do not appreciate you painting a wide brush on one stupid person who happens to be republican.

I believe Harvey Weinstein is a Democrat. Should the Democratic Party be judged by his actions? Would you want to be judged by his actions?

Who wants another 4 years of this.He pleaded guilty to illegally accepting Russian money for Dumptys inauguration and lying to congress. Mueller probing trail of where all the money raised for inauguration went.Another witch caught in the "witch Hunt".They are zeroing in on money people closest to Dumpty. This is getting closer to his front door.

So keep believing Mueller isn't making progress. Why do you think Dumpty is trying to fire Sessions who recused himself and replace him with someone more "loyal" to him.And we all know what that means.

-- Posted by lets be real on Sat, Sep 1, 2018, at 12:47 AM
  • Forget another four years. We have six and a half more to go. Hopefully with that amount of time, things will be good enough that even if the demonrats are still around and happen to gain power, it would take them a long time of monkeying around to push us back down to where we were a few years ago.

  • Socialism is good; it keeps people on the dole from taking your job! Did you know that if Sen. McCain had been elected President, we wouldn't have Mr. Trump as our President today? Of course, you can look at that both ways.

-- Posted by Tyger on Sat, Sep 1, 2018, at 8:29 AM
  • It is to bad that all those Republicans gathering today for John McCain's funeral don't honor what he stood for and bows to Trumpism. Can not wait for Obama to speak.

Everyone in Washington is there.I wonder who is babysitting Dumpty encouraging him to go outside and play to distract him from tweeting hatred during the funeral.

-- Posted by lets be real on Sat, Sep 1, 2018, at 8:50 AM
  • I believe I listened to all speeches, including Mr. Obama. He may have strayed into politics a little too much, but all were good. I would have responded sooner, but it was time to give the diatribe a break.

Mr. McCain's choice of speakers, music and patriotism had me flat out crying. Not so much for his death but because of what he stood for, his honor and his patriotism to the end.

I doubt that he would have liked how the commentators (at least on ABC) got their "digs" in regarding the present administration. Mr. McCain's whole plan seemed to be to bring the Nation together.

I have refrained from creating a separate post for John McCain because I did not want to see the comments that might develop.

-- Posted by stevemills on Sat, Sep 1, 2018, at 11:05 AM
  • McCain was not a coward he stood up to Dumpty unlike other spineless Republicans. One thing he hated was abuse of power.

-- Posted by lets be real on Sat, Sep 1, 2018, at 11:14 AM
  • It's amazing.

When McCain ran against obama, liberals said he was too old, out of touch, a racist, and the second coming of Hitler.

Just look back in the history of these blogs for examples.

Now liberals say his farts didn't stink.

Is it possible for liberals to be consistent?

  • While we are speaking of Races, I have been to Shelbyville several time this past month of August and I can say I never saw ANY signs of any Walking Horse Celebration going on or visitors flooding the stores. No big trucks with horses or horse trailers on the highways. The traffic seemed normal to me. Did the people get too angry to come to the Walking Horse Capital this year or did I just slip in and out of town before everyone came out?

Even the horse flies weren't visiting Bell Buckle this year. Kind of pleasant if you ask me. Of course, tonight is the night, so maybe I am speaking too soon!

-- Posted by sui on Sat, Sep 1, 2018, at 8:57 PM
  • The industry suffered for many years with unpredictable inspections and regulations. While not dead, it took a serious blow and so did our civic organizations that depended it on the influx of visitors.

I can’t forecast the future health of the show. Maybe someone also has a better crystal ball.

-- Posted by stevemills on Sat, Sep 1, 2018, at 9:18 PM
  • Racists see racism everywhere. To a person who carries a chip on their shoulder, no one can get close to them without knocking that chip off resulting in offense. Democrats are masterful at using that to their advantage.

I remember lots pictures of Bush as a monkey. It wasn't considered racist then. But, to American blacks who still carry the racist chip on their shoulders, any term is racist if used against someone who happens to be black.

The term "monkey" is applied to people who, like a monkey, have the ability to effect an item or situation but lack the understanding to affect it in a positive way. That is how it is used and applied to people such as Bush. The fact that they consider it racist when used against a black man, indicates that THEY think that blacks fit that description as a race.

I will probably never understand why black people overwhelming support a party that obviously holds them in such disregard.

  • Someone tell me what is the rush to pick a Supreme Court judge? I remember Republicans refusing to even hold a hearing on Obama's nomination for a whole year.Could it have something to do with him being an unindicted co-conspirator in a criminal case that might go to the Supreme Court? The country will not stand quite while he fires Sessions and Rosenstein after the midterms and replace them with someone who will stop the Mueller investigation. If Kavanaughs 3 years in the WH was so honorable why want he have his records released? He wanted Clinton removed from the WH over Lewinsky now he thinks presidents should not be charged with anything until they leave office. He will protect Dumpty from the due process of law. That little protest today is peanuts compared to what is going to come.

  • "Someone tell me what is the rush to pick a Supreme Court judge? I remember Republicans refusing to even hold a hearing on Obama's nomination for a whole year.Could it have something to do with him being an unindicted co-conspirator in a criminal case that might go to the Supreme Court?"

My opinion is mid-term elections. "unindicted co-conspirator" to me is another way of saying we want to dirty up a person's reputation without having anything to go on that would stand up in court. Nothing unusual for many liberal opponents.

Stopping the Mueller investigation would be like stopping nothing, except to save us money. Put up or SHUT UP! (Not you LBR) But look at it this way, at least the anti-Trump folks could focus on something else to entertain us.

I believe only a financially independent, mentally tough person could have survived this assault and started the "cleanup'. Granted, he is not, nor was a Boy Scout but some of our most beloved leaders turn out to be similar, unless someone re-writes history.

Clinton was under attack for what he did IN OFFICE. Look at the careers being ruined today for suggestive talking, or even touching. How does that compare to Mr. Clinton's actions with a 22 year old, intern? I would say innocent, but I am not convinced about that.

How will he protect Trump? What can a single Supreme Court Justice do to influence what comes in front of the court? I know I don't understand Constitutional law but he is one out of nine unless someone tries to change that.

In researching a little about the court I ran across this little ditty. "In 1937, in an effort to create a court more friendly to his New Deal programs, President Franklin Roosevelt attempted to convince Congress to pass legislation that would allow a new justice to be added to the court—for a total of up to 15 members—for every justice over 70 who opted not to retire. Congress didn’t go for FDR’s plan." Now, what party was he?

-- Posted by stevemills on Wed, Sep 5, 2018, at 4:59 PM
  • LBR convenietly forgets congress wouldn't seat a new justice under obama after Mcconnell cited the "Biden rule" where Biden claimed it was too rancorous to have SCOTUS appointments in a presidential election year.

Dems hate when you use their own words against them and call out their hypocrisy.

  • I have a feeling that Mueller is working with Trump on draining the swamp. Even Russia is helping Trump drain the swamp because Putin doesn't like the deep state. The Helsinki Summit consisted of Putin tell Trump to watch his back while he cleans the swamp and gave him some inside information about the deep state.

The Supreme court is nothing compared to what is going down this year. The whole world will be shocked when they actually realize what Trump is really doing. Jeff Sessions has picked out 470 judges to help him when all this swamp draining starts. It isn't going to be people thrown out of the swamp. It will be people charged with Treason and human Trafficing.

-- Posted by sui on Sun, Sep 9, 2018, at 6:39 PM
  • God has said he will Take (two) supreme court justices and three will be removed by scandals giving Trump the authority to appoint Five (5) new Supreme Court Justices who will overturn Roe vs Wade.

Sealed indictments are coming down for the "Deep State" so 3 supreme court justices may be included in them. There have been 12 attempts on Trumps life, so he is implementing God's plan, which will make it better here on earth for everyone.

This isn't happening only in just the USA. It is happening world wide. It will also include the Senators, Rep, Higher-up Deep State members, iluminati, Bankers, MSM, Movie Industry and Churches and more.
