If Lady Liberty could, what would she do to show her feelings about this past week
Not that I really went anywhere, but I refused to get any further into the political melee than I had, so I remained silent. The only political statement on our current races is that I am proud of the Governor’s race. It did not get the press coverage and credit it deserves and I am pleased to say I will feel sorry for the loser. Either way I believe we would get a good leader.
The Senate race? I know where my vote will go but it was not decided by all the mud and WORSE thrown around by both sides. I know money is what everyone focuses on in campaign reform, but I really think there should be a way to stop the twisting peoples words, comments and actions to fit their purpose AND hold people libel for egregious lies. I was going to say falsehoods, but that tempers it too much. That’s it for the political races.
The shootings yesterday in Pittsburgh fill my heart with great sadness. Our society really needs an awakening on where it is going. If this tragedy does that, it would be a silver lining to a dark, very dark cloud. It will start by not pointing fingers as many have already started doing. Do you know any other murderer's face who was scanned to see if they attended a particular political event? What a great nugget for the press to foment more unrest and accusations. (news)``
I would like to see more reform on what the social platforms allow. I have not seen what this man spewed, nor do I want to, but if it espoused violence, it and all others should be banned. I know, I know, free speech, but these are private platforms and they have every right AND possibly a responsibility to see that the public’s welfare is protected. I can say I hate someone, that they are wrong, or stupid, but if I say they should be harassed, attacked or their family, religion, organization be harassed or attacked, THAT IS TOO FAR! As many of you know, I would occasionally like to vaporize comments here.
It is too far to speak publicly as well. It is wrong for any type of leader, especially political to use a public venue to encourage their followers to physically or verbally assault others. Crazy people will still do what they do, but our leaders do not need to encourage. BEFORE you put a name or political party to that, stop and think. Neither of our two major political parties/leaders are guilt free.
And we don’t need to point fingers, we just need to STOP.
