Integrity

Merriam-Webster defines integrity as the following:

1 : firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values : incorruptibility

An example would be for a journalist or newspaper explaining why certain comments made that merely mention a certain individual's name are routinely deleted.

2 : an unimpaired condition : soundness

An example would be the bond that the local newspaper has with the subscribers and one way to ensure the soundness of this bond would be to explain why these posts are routinely deleted, not skirting the questions asked as if the paper were run by politicians.

3 : the quality or state of being complete or undivided : completeness

An example of this would be to allow reasonable questions to be asked without censoring the people that read this publication regularly.

My question, does a newspaper maintain its integrity even after their failure to answer even the most simple question such as, "Why were certain posts deleted?" I have noticed the silence and wondered whether or not the Editors have hoped that this topic simply goes away or people lose interest.

If a newspaper is willing to censor inane posts in the "Comments" section, what would stop them from reporting ONLY the news that they want to report on as opposed to being unbiased?

People are tired of biased reporting, from Fox, CNN, MSNBC, and all of the major networks, why should we put up with it from the local newspaper?

At this point I'm more concerned with the comment deletions than with the actual issue that they were regarding.

Once you've shredded your personal documents, then what?
Posted Tuesday, October 13, at 12:16 PM

Ok, I just read the blog entry by Steve Mills entitled "Preserving your identity is not just someone else's responsibility". After reading this entry I started looking more in earnest for ways to use the shredded paper once you've made sure that any would-be identity thieves are thwarted...

Webb School Arts and Crafts Fair
Posted Sunday, October 4, at 1:47 PM

The days are getting shorter and there's a certain crispness to the air. The leaves are falling off the trees, some have already lost all semblance of leaves. This can only mean one thing for the sleepy little town of Bell Buckle...people are getting ready for the annual Webb School Arts and Crafts Fair. ...

Where was the Times-Gazette?
Posted Monday, September 21, at 10:13 PM

There's an election in three weeks. There are currently 49 Republicans, 48 Democrats, and 1 "Carter County Republican" (I'm still not sure what that's supposed to mean) in the Tennessee House of Representatives. This election will decide whether the Republicans expand, however slightly, their majority or if the Democrats will even it up, or if Tennessee will elect its only Constitutional Party Representative...

Constitution Day
Posted Thursday, September 17, at 8:01 PM

Two hundred and twenty-two years ago today a band of thirty-nine men that were fed up with their overbearing government and had taken charge of themselves attached their signatures to the document that, to this day, is the foundation of our government. Today is Constitution Day, please take a moment to consider that the rights that we enjoy, are due to this document...

Swine flu vaccination...is it more deadly than the virus?
Posted Friday, August 21, at 12:37 AM

With school back in session, the "swine flu specter" is rearing it's ugly head again. There is talk in some states of requiring vaccination for this virus (I'm not sure if TN is one of these). During the 1976 outbreak of the swine flu the government rushed to get a vaccination out. ...

Barack Obama...JUST ANOTHER POLITICIAN
Posted Friday, May 22, at 6:53 PM

Barack Obama promised during his campaign that he was going to make a "net spending cut" in the federal government: -Increased spending by over $1,000,000,000,000 over the next decade -Additional $250,000,000,000 for another financial bailout -President Bush expanded the federal budget by $700,000,000,000.....President Obama is adding an ADDITIONAL $1,000,000,000,000 to it. How is that "CHANGE"? Well, it's change alright, but it's change in the same direction that we were headed anyway...

Two Tea Parties...one GREAT DAY in Tennessee
Posted Wednesday, April 15, at 10:52 PM

Today I had the privilege...correction, the RIGHT...to attend two of today's Tax Day Tea Parties in Tennessee. First we went to Nashville to attend the one at Legislative Plaza. This one had an estimated 10,000 people attending. This was the first "protest" that I had attended...as a protester. ...
