A mild rant about "customer service"
Posted Saturday, May 10, at 11:33 PM
What happened to customer service? I am not talking about the whole "the customer is always right" mentality. That would never work because people on a whole would try to get something for nothing. I have seen that time and time again. I am talking about listening to a customer's comments (in this case a complaint) and correcting a real problem. Well, in this case it wasn't a major issue, but certainly could have been handled differently.
Today we drove home through Murfreesboro and stopped at an automatic car wash to hose off the week's gunk from our van. After going through the wash and stopping at Food Lion, I saw that there was soap left on the van. I went back to the car wash to ask if they had a hose that I could wash the soap off with. They said no, but that we could run the van through the wash again. After the second time there was still soap on the van. I noticed this while sitting right next to a hose that they had attached to a spigot (thought they didn't have one). I asked if that was the hose that they didn't have and they offered to hose the soap off the van. While this was being done I was talking to the manager of this particularly "monstrous" car wash (on 231 in Murfreesboro) and he said that if I wasn't satisfied with the way that their car wash worked, then I needed to find another car wash to use. Now I'm no expert at dealing with customers but this just doesn't seem like a good approach to take if you plan on return business. So, if you happen to have your car washed at an automatic car wash (particularly one on 231), you may want to check for soap after this has "rinsed" your vehicle. And they do have a hose (it's just inside the car wash at the end of the cycle).
A new "twist" on the Bible Theme Park According to an article on the Tennessean's web-site, the developer of this park has a past career of "developing" other things...namely photographs of the "Pet of the Month" in Penthouse magazine. Mr. Bible-Park...err...Amnon Bar-Tur, used to be a photographer for Bob Guccione's esteemed publication. Maybe he should have had a theme park based on that career. It might have actually passed...
Supreme Court decision that makes sense. On Monday the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that a law in Indiana requiring voters to have a valid government issued photo ID is not in violation of the U.S. Constitution. Here's the decision Now I am no huge fan of governmental regulation but, in this case, I fully agree with them. ...
California is signing agreements with the U.N.? Yep, California signed an agreement with the United Nations to help China reduce its emissions of "greenhouse gases". If you're unsure of what gases are "greenhouse gases" then exhale…that's one of them according to the wackos that decide these things. ...
I always feel like...somebody's watching me Concerned about the growing number of cameras used by the "authorities" to monitor our activities? Stay clear of Miami. According to a Reuters report, Miami police are looking to use aerial drones outfitted with electro-optic and infrared sensors if the FAA approves them. How are they supposed to get search warrants for all of those people they'll be "inadvertently" spying on?...
What do you get the person that has everything? How about a Sharper Image gift card…errr..not so fast. It seems as though those oh-so-convenient gift cards that people were snapping up for Christmas presents are but to be worthless. Yep, it seems that the brilliant minds that are running the definitive "gadget" store have decided that, since they are in jeopardy of filing bankruptcy, they would no longer honor the gift cards. ...
We're from the government, we're here to help…eh. In a ceremony that received no fanfare (and virtually no publicity), the United States and Canada, on Feb. 14th, have signed an agreement to allow the military from one to "assist" the other during a "domestic civil emergency". This means that in the event of a natural disaster, terrorist attack, or civil unrest, we could have Canadian soldiers in our country telling us what to do and enforcing the orders of their Canadian or American superiors. ...
Chattanooga sends water to the Georgia legislature The mayor of Chattanooga has replied to the Georgia legislature's latest attempt to relieve their drought. If you read the article, please make sure to read the proclamation.

Georgia's new, creative way of surviving the drought Georgia legislators have come up with a new and exciting way of overcoming their drought. They're trying to take a mile of Tennessee so that they can hook into the Tennessee River and suck the water out of there for Atlanta, rather than the Chattahoochee River (which must have dried up due to it being hotter than a "hoochie-coochie")...
Tree Rustling I had heard stories about this phenomena a few months ago from different states. On January 30th and again on February 1st WSMV had stories about this. People in Murfreesboro have been having their trees stolen right out of their yards. In other states, this has become a fairly common occurrence. ...
