Ok, I have to say upfront that I'm a huge fan of Kevin Smith's movies. After seeing "Zack and Miri Make a Porno" that has not changed. If you're easily offended, then you will NOT want to go see this (or any other Kevin Smith) movie. If you've seen and enjoyed any of the "Jay and Silent Bob" movies, then you will love this one. It stars Seth Rogen (Knocked up / Superbad / The 40-Year-Old Virgin) and Elizabeth Banks (The 40-Year-Old Virgin / Scrubs / Seabiscuit) as two friends that have known each other virtually their entire lives. Currently they're co-workers in a coffee shop and roommates. They run into hard times financially and can't pay their utility bills or rent (but amazingly have beer money). They decide that since they have nothing, including their dignity, to lose that they could make enough to cover their bills by making a porno and selling it to their classmates from high-school. Kevin Smith has captured the ability of people in dire straits to pull their resources together to get a way out of those situations. He should know about that since his first movie "Clerks" was financed by selling his comic books, maxing out credit cards, and using part of his college fund. The story of "Zack and Miri" seems to draw many parallels to the filming of "Clerks".

This is, in no possible way, a family movie. But this is one of the best movies that I've seen in a very long time. Co-stars Jason Mewes (Jay from all of the Jay and Silent Bob movies), Craig Robinson (Daryl from "The Office"), Jeff Anderson (Randall from "Clerks" and "Clerks II"), Justin Long (Mac from "I'm a PC, I'm a Mac" commercials / Dodgeball), Traci Lords (underage porn star), and Katie Morgan (legally aged porn star) round out the cast and just make this film (again, NOT A FAMILY MOVIE) one of the best comedies that has been in theaters in years.

I've been thinking about going to see it. I'm not a big fan of Seth Rogan, though, so that's why I've been holding off. I do however like Traci Lords (thanks to her appearance in a John Waters movie).

Well, when I first saw that Seth Rogan was in it, I just assumed that it was another Judd Apatow movie and those are pretty tired. As soon as I found out that it was a Kevin Smith film, I knew it was going to at least be tolerable. Rogan did a great job in it (considering that he's Seth Rogan). Smith really pulled together a great cast for this one. I couldn't think of a better choice for any of these characters. By the way, if you go see it, don't leave when the credits start. There's an addidional bit about half-way through the credits.
