Braxtyn Burris, Will Carter, Lucas Clanton and Saebyn Burris are fishing cousins who caught this 5 lb. catfish using jugs in the pond behind them.
Brock and Bryce Tobish of Shelbyville entered the "Tennesse Muscle" tournarment last weekend. The father and son duo took first place finishes in their respective classes. There were weight, high school and children's classes for left and right hand. Brock entered in the novice 199-242 lbs. left and right hand classes, and took first out of more than 15 entries in each. Bryce, 16, entered his first tournment in the high school class, taking first in left and third in right hand. Brock says that it is a great sport for all ages. The presentation of the Above and Beyond Award was made to Kathy Young, HR manager of Bemis Milprint Inc. in Shelbyville on May 9, 2012. Sgt. Patrick Harden, A-Btry 1/181st FA, ARNG, an employee of Bemis, was the nominator. This award is presented to an employer on behalf of the men and women of the National Guard and Reserve Forces for outstanding service and continuing support to the national defense. Patrick and Bob Beatty, representing the National Guard and Reserve, present the award.
Riley Richardson, daughter of Jimmy and Jean Richardson, is this year's recipient of the Bemis Company Scholarship. The scholarship program offers financial assistance for college or vocational school to children of permanent full-time employees of Bemis Co. or any of its domestic or Canadian subsidiaries. Riley's father is an employee of Bemis Milprint Shelbyville. Kathy Young, HR manager, presented Riley with the scholarship.
