Southside Elementary School recently held a food drive. The top two students from each class who brought in the most food items got the chance to participate in a money scramble. In observance of National Pie Day, the Shelbyville-Bedford County Senior Citizen Center held a homemade pie contest. Pies were judged on taste and creativity. Tied for first place were Minnie Cooper, right, with an apple-raisin pie, and Mary Lee McKay (not pictured) with her pecan pie. Sandra Locke, left, won second place for her chocolate angel strata pie. After judging, the pies were enjoyed by all the members. (Submitted photo)
