Southside Elementary School recently held a food drive. The top two students from each class who brought in the most food items got the chance to participate in a money scramble. The kindergarten, first and second grade participants scramble on the floor to pick up as much money as they can.

In observance of National Pie Day, the Shelbyville-Bedford County Senior Citizen Center held a homemade pie contest. Pies were judged on taste and creativity. Tied for first place were Minnie Cooper, right, with an apple-raisin pie, and Mary Lee McKay (not pictured) with her pecan pie. Sandra Locke, left, won second place for her chocolate angel strata pie. After judging, the pies were enjoyed by all the members.

Bedford County School Board member Glen Forsee was a good sport during Southside Elementary School's Cheetos Toss. Forsee's church, First Assembly of God, contributed boxes of food for the school's canned food drive.
