A Red Cross blood drive was held at First Baptist Church, Depot Street, last week in honor of leukemia patient Mark Kelly Olson. According to Maleah Qualls, shown with Olson, 59 volunteers came to donate, with 50 accepted as donors. The Shelby Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held a DAR Grave Marking Ceremony for Rachel Gunn Sargent (12/18/1921 - 3/14/2007) and her daughter, Janice Fite Head (10/1/1946 - 4/15/2011) on Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Rosebank Cemetery in Flat Creek.
