Tim Miller, principal of Community Elementary School and student Alex Purdom accepted a poster commemorating the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812 in the United States, given by the Shelby Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. The organization placed a duplicate poster at Community Middle School.

The Cascade High Student Council attended the Southern Association of Student Councils Conference in Orlando, Florida on October 26-28. The purpose was to develop leadership skills for young adults. The students participated in workshops and completed a conference-wide community service project that helped renovate an Orlando elementary school. The officers of the Bedford Country Ministerial Association for 2012-2013 are, from left, treasurer Ron DeWitt, pastor of First Nazarene Church; secretary Doug Dezotell, pastor of Mt. Lebanon and Cannon UMC; vice-president Tom Bierovic, pastor of First Christian Church; and president David Carrera, pastor of Beth Sar Shalom Church. The ministerial association meets every 2nd Thursday of the month at 11 a.m. at Christian Care Center. All area ministers are invited to attend.
