Red Ribbon Week, a week dedicated to keeping kids off drugs, was held at Eakin Elementary School the last week of October as part of the Guidance Class curriculum. The theme of this year's Red Ribbon Week was "Paws-itivily Drug Free." In conjunction with Red Ribbon Week students learned about giving and being generous by participating in an animal shelter drive. Eakin brought in a total of 290 items to donate to the local animal shelter. Kristin Wexler's kindergarten class brought in the most items and is pictured here with Bedford County Animal Control employee Danielle Yost. The class also received a pizza party as a celebration.

The Bedford Cancer Foundation recently accepted donations from two businesses. The Pomegranate donated $500.
Bedford Vision donated $3,132, proceeds from its annual fashion show, which this year had a theme of the "Go Pink or Go Home Event."
