On Oct. 23, Eakin Elementary School celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness by having a "Pink Out Day." Principal Dulcie Davis and fourth grade teacher Christy Stonecipher challenged students to a certain goal for the school-wide fundraiser. Recently, several members of Shelby Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution attended the 89th Dedication Day of the Kate Duncan Smith DAR School in Grant, Ala. The KDS School, which is funded entirely by donations from DAR, is for children who live in the Gunter Mountain region. Shelby Chapter donated several gift cards for students' supplies.
