Karen Cook's second grade class collected the most items during the school's Canned Food Drive in November. Themed, "Putting Hunger to Rest," students brought in nearly 1,800 items which were donated to City Outreach Ministries. Grades which met their fundraising goal were allowed to wear pajamas on a school day, and Cook's class will celebrate with a pizza party.

The exterior of the Boys and Girls Club on Madison Street received a facelift recently. With a grant from the The Southern Middle Tennessee Resource Conservation & Development Council, Hillsdale Fund, and professional guidance from the Stone Depot the weekend project was a success. A. J. Phillips, Braydon Powell, Kyra Powell and Jaxon Curry were among the youth volunteers.
Volunteers from Calsonic Kansei North America, Leadership Bedford, Bedford County Soil Conservation District, and kids from the club removed excess mulch, grass, weeds, and dirt. They installed landscaping fabric, decorative rock, transplanted the plants and dug a hole for the flag pole. BCSCD mascot Sammy Soil visited the volunteers.
