Everyone will get a chance Saturday, May 12, to help out the local needy during the National Association of Letter Carriers' Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. All you have to do is leave a bag of nonperishable food in or on your mailbox that day, and the mail carrier will do the rest. Donations will be given to Good Samaritan Association and distributed to those in need of food assistance in Bedford County. In the foreground is Good Samaritan director Cathy Miller, handing a bag of food to rural carrier Casey Gardner. They are surrounded by other postal employees. Items needed most are peanut butter, canned meat products, spaghetti, canned spaghetti sauce, canned fruit, mac & cheese and cereal. Local United Way programs nationwide help to promote the event.
