Rotarian Wayne Bomar presented the club's weekly program on the Duck River Clean-Up and plans for this year's June 23 event. In the 14-year history of the clean-up, 56 miles of river in Bedford County have been purged of litter and household debris thanks to the many volunteers who give time and effort each third Saturday in June. Bomar commented that "litter trash" has reduced greatly mostly due to "education and attitude" of citizens, however "household dumping" around boat ramps has worsened. Volunteers will meet at 308 S Main St. behind Shelbyville Power at 7:30 a.m. for a light breakfast. Here, Bomar and Rotarian Roger Hawks display a shirt with the event's slogan, "Only Trash Litters."
