  • Former Shelbyville Central and Mississippi State University basketball standout Barry Stewart stopped by the Boys & Girls Club of Bedford County to speak with the members while he was in town. Stewart plays professional basketball in Germany, and will soon head back there for preseason training.
  • Sgt. Maj. Larry Williams, U.S. Army ret., was the featured speaker at Thursday's meeting of the Vietnam Era Veterans. Williams spoke about "honor flights" for World War II and Korean War veterans, as well as many other events for veterans taking place in middle Tennessee.
  • Vietnam veteran Tom Taylor thanks Sgt. Maj. Williams with the group's commemorative mug. For more info on the Vietnam Era Veterans group, call Taylor at 684-2557.
