Students in third grade teacher Mary Tim Cook's Social Studies classes at Southside Elementary recently completed a hands-on activity to help them better understand about North, South, East and West. Rylan Green, Isaiah Williamson, Makayla Meredith, Emilin Oliveres and Cole Banks proudly show the correct answer on their chalk boards.

In honor of National Biscuit Month, the Senior Citizens Center challenged members to create their most delicious recipe using canned biscuits. Participants were: Minnie Cooper, Thomas Jackson, Edna Tinker (1st for monkey bread), Sylvia Blalock (2nd for beef pot pie), Sandra Locke (3rd for blackberry pie) and Barbara Jackson.

President Carolyn Matusek conducted the Jewel Pin Ceremony for new pledges of Beta Iota Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha at the home of Rachel Dunagan, with Norma Sanborn as co-hostess.
Final plans were made for the annual dinner/fashion show. Assignments were designated, and tickets handed out. The event will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 6:30 p.m. at First Methodist Church. This marks the 33rd year.
