Citizens and business owners on Shelbyville square have formed a group called Our Town to ensure that safety and crime awareness are a priority to those living and working in the area. The group met on Tuesday evening with Shelbyville Police Officer David Curley presenting information regarding graffiti, gang activity and security. Curley encouraged the group to choose a "block commander" to act as liaison to law enforcement. Bedford County EMA Director Scott Johnson and Operations Manager Tammy Anderson also informed the group about storm safety.
