On the Appalachian trail

Normandy resident David Browning hiked the 2,190-mile Appalachian trail earlier this year, just after retiring from Arnold Engineering Development Complex. See the story at http://www.t-g.com/story/1891586.html

Browning at the exact halfway point of the trail, 80 miles north of Harper's Ferry, W.Va.

When the weather was good, Browning slept in this single-occupant tent. Bad weather would force him into one of the three-sided shelters along the trail.
These shelters are located along the trail for the use of hikers.
Browning rides a zip line set up to help hikers across a creek.
Browning saw moose, deer, red squirrels, chipmunks ... oh, and bears.
The end of the journey, Mt. Katahdin in Maine.
