Liberty Belle B-17
There aren't too many like her left, but she's still flying. And the public has a rare chance this weekend to take to the air with her. She's the "Liberty Belle," one of only 14 B-17 bombers from World War II still in the air. The historic craft will be at the Smyrna Airport Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. "We keep this airplane flying because the public supports us," said pilot Ray Fowler. "The veterans get very excited when they hear we're coming to town. It will probably be the last time they see a B-17." For more information, visit www.libertyfoundation.org or call (918) 340-0243.
