The University of Tennessee/Tennessee State University Extension held a canning college Saturday in the kitchen of First United Methodist Church on the square.

When canning, ingredients like these tomatoes often must be cut in exactly the measurements the recipe calls for so the heat will penetrate all ingredients, Extension agent Whitney Danhof said.
