On Feb. 27, an earthquake off the coast of Chile caused damage and created a tsunami which damaged Talcahuano, Chile's largest port. The event carried a personal impact for David Carrera of Beth Sar Shalom Ministries here in Shelbyville. Carrera has attended a pastor's conference in Talcahuano for the past five or six years, and had the Rev. Vicente Montenegro of Talcahuano, pastor of First Baptist Church there, as his guest here in Shelbyville as recently as November. For this reason, Carrera is organizing a relief drive for the areas impacted by the earthquake and the tsunami.
