Mildred Spear, left, was the guest speaker for the Shelby Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution meeting recently at River Bend Country Club. Spear is a member of DAR's Tullahoma chapter. She and her husband own the nearby Ledford Mill. She spoke on the topic of colonial toys, which were mostly educational and meant to teach children. Spear is seen with Shelby Chapter Regent Dixie Parker.
Shelby Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution joined Argie Cooper Public Library for its November story time. Jessica Osborne, left, director of youth services for the library, is seen with with Gay Mixon of DAR. Osborne read several stories to the children. Mixon hand made Indian drums and headdresses that she gave out to each child, as well as pilgrim masks to color.
