On Jan. 30 at Stewarts Creek High School in Smyrna, Cascade FFA member Kimber Cook placed second in the regional Star Greenhand contest. The Star Greenhand award is given to the top freshman FFA member based on the student's Supervised Agriculture Experience project, FFA knowledge and a personal interview. Kimber is an active member of Cascade FFA and has attended numerous leadership conferences, chapter community service projects, and competing in contest. Her SAE consisted of working on her family’s commercial goat and sheep operation, raising rabbits, bottling honey and making chaptsick from beeswax.
Members of Community FFA competed in a variety of categories at the Raider Roundup held at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.
On Jan. 24 and 25, five Cascade FFA members attended the 2020 FFA Tennessee Leadership Conference at Blackman High School in Murfreesboro. During the two-day conference, members were able to work with former Tennessee State FFA officers on different aspects of FFA. They concentrated on problem solving and working together as a team. Members were able to bring this knowledge back to the chapter. They hoped to use some of the activities from the conference and incorporate it into a chapter meeting and other FFA activies.
