Students in Amanda Spain's 8th grade math class at Harris Middle School spent four days researching and studying the mathematical constant pi and its uses. Some students memorized the digits of pi, advertised pi day, baked a pi(e) and solved for its area, created pi artwork, made games involving pi, wrote stories about pi, and created a clock requiring the user to calculate pi to tell the time. Students who memorized the value of pi were Alejandro Villeda (71 digits) Kain White (70 digits) Jamel Young (65 digits) and Axel Basurto (65 digits).
