Junior’s House, a child advocacy center based in Fayetteville but with a satellite office in Shelbyville, placed pinwheels on the Bedford County Courthouse lawn on Friday in honor of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Bedford County Mayor Eugene Ray, left, and Shelbyville Mayor Wallace Cartwright signed proclamations in honor of the month. Each of the 50 pinwheels represented 10 children in the 17th Judicial District who were assisted by Junior’s House last year. About 200 of those 500 children were from Bedford County. Junior’s House also honored “hometown heroes” — law enforcement and judicial officials from the community who work on child abuse cases and in child protection.
