Not always quiet at the library

Things are really booming at the Argie Cooper Public Library -- literally and figuratively -- as the summer reading program is well under way on Wednesdays at the library. Last week approximately 500 children from School Aged Childcare Program (SACP), the Boys and Girls Club, Ms. Menza's Daycare and the general public were mesmerized by the shocking, bubbling, smoking and exploding experiments performed by Mr. Richie of Super Science TN. Performing in two separate sessions, Mr. Richie (aka Richard Askey) demonstrated the properties of electricity by using a Tesla coil. He also used dry ice to teach the audience about solids, liquids and gasses, sometimes with explosive results. Today's program is "Dinosaurs Love Underpants," and "other silly stories," which will be presented by the South of Broadway Players. Programs take place each Wednesday.
