Southside Elementary canned food drive

The Southside Elementary School Student Council recently held a canned food drive to help those who needed extra help during the winter season. Each day had a different theme, and certain items were requested. Winning classes got to do special activities on a Friday, and the top two students who brought in the most canned food from each classroom got to participate in a money scramble.

Students in first, third and fifth grade wore purple on Friday. First graders in Regina Campbell's class, Delainey Green, Payton Templeton, Sunshine Lee and Evelyn Basurto wore plenty of purple on Hodgepodge Day.

Students who brought in cans of soup got to see Assistant Principal Layne Talbott act out a book titled "Stone Soup," while Principal Reita Vaughn read the story.
