We put the question to sophomore athletes from Shelbyville Central High School.
No, I don’t think so. It is a dream of mine, so I would want the pay and think it is worth it.
Not really. In most sports athletes are risking life-threatening injuries. They deserve to get paid according to how good they are.
A little bit. They make an absurd amount of money, but at the same time, people pay to watch them.
No. I think they work hard to become professional athletes and people pay to watch them, so they should get paid.
In some cases, yes. Some get paid a lot but don’t have a lot of playing time.
No. They deserve to be paid for their talents and athleticism.
Yes. There are more worthy careers, such as those who discover things and they do not get as much as the athletes. Athletes do not have to do as much in school because of their athleticism and are paid more, but academic achievements are much harder.
No. A lot of them use their money to give back to the community. If they aren’t giving back, though, it’s too much.
No. I think people pay to go watch them, so they need to be getting the money. The more money that is put into it, the more money they should make.
