Youth Art Month
Thursday, April 25, 2013
The Bedford County Art Teachers held their annual Youth Art Month Show on April 21. Artwork from every Bedford County School was represented in the show. Approximately 1,500 people came to the reception to view the art made by very talented students from Kindergarten through 12th grade.
Nevaeh Buchanan, a first-grader at Southside Elementary School, is all smiles as she poses beside her beautiful symmetrical butterfly.
A young artist points out his artwork to his dad.
Elijah Kirby, a fourth-grader from Thomas Magnet School, was really proud of his paper-maiche bird.
Bedford County art teachers are, in front: Abbey Logan; Lauren Samons; Helen Johnson; Santha Cartwright; Andrea McTigue and Angie Jackson. In back: Jo Jo Hill; Cynthia Donnelly; Megan Meli; Katie Struk; Carol Price; Laura Houp and Becky Soper. Beth Moore is absent.
Southside fifth-grader Allison LeMaster shows off her clay food. Her pigs in a blanket and the other clay food looked so real that art teacher Andrea McTigue posted a sign on the table that read, "Please don't eat the clay food!"
