Christmas

The greatest story ever told (12/25/11)
On this Christmas Morning, I want to share the true Christmas story with you from the Gospels of Luke, Matthew and John. This of course is the greatest story ever told. Luke 2:4-20: 4And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem (because he was of the house and lineage of David),* 5To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. ...

That software records a large variety of specific information about how those phones are used, including capturing keystrokes. There are differing reports over whether the software records keystrokes in text messaging mode or only in dialing mode...
Lisa's gift to Shelbyville (12/07/11)
In 1948, when Morton Renegar brought his bride Lisa back to Tennessee from her native Germany, he wondered how she would be received -- after all, World War II had ended just three years earlier. He needn't have worried; Lisa won people over, and within a few years was modeling clothes for two department stores owned by Jewish families...

Sleigh and reindeer ready, Santa's raring to take off (12/23/10)
POINTS NORTH -- The chair at Santa's desk looks sturdily made, but even so it creaks a little as he leans back in thought. "I honestly can't remember," he says, having been asked about the very first toy he ever delivered. Then, suddenly, he leans forward...
A year passes, and I want to share the best of it with family (12/22/10)
I actually got a phone call from my oldest son last week -- and he didn't want anything. He didn't want money or tax forms or insurance cards or phone numbers or advice or anything. In fact, he didn't even want to call me. The first unsolicited phone call I've had from him in years, and it was a butt-dial...
Not-so-jolly holiday moments (12/22/10)
For many, the holiday season can be a wonderful time of year. People gather around dinner tables with family and friends to enjoy the festivities, food and fun. She sat in the back of the City Outreach Ministries building Saturday morning with her daughters, Sarabeth Prince, 4, and Emily Prince, who turned 6 that very day, and waited for their names to be called. Other children streamed past them, leaving the building with large black sacks bulging with toys, riding bicycles, or even driving in tiny battery-operated cars...
Time? What time? Wait, where did it go??!!?? (12/19/10)
We got the Christmas decorations down last Sunday and I looked at the box with a bizarre sense of deja vu. "Didn't we just pack these up last month?" I asked. Normally, that would be a valid question -- I tend to leave the Christmas decorations up until they get in the way of the Easter egg hunt. But last year, Terry put his foot down and we actually had everything put away by Valentine's...
Toys for Tots (12/17/10)

The same Bible verses are read each year; they tell the story of the fall of mankind, God's redemptive grace and His ultimate gift of Jesus Christ...
NORAD tracks Santa again (12/15/10)
Each year, I like to call attention to the NORAD Tracks Santa web site (noradsanta.org), and this year is certainly no exception. In 1955, the Sears, Roebuck & Co. store in Colorado Springs, Colo., set up a telephone line that kids could call to get a message from Santa. ...

Black Friday or black eye day? It might be both for some shoppers. "My husband was here earlier this morning," said Catina Burns as she loaded her vehicle in the Walmart parking lot. Few restaurant choices available for Christmas Day diners (12/23/09)
Do you remember the final scene from "A Christmas Story," when the family, whose Christmas meal was ruined by the neighbor's marauding dogs, is sitting down to Peking duck and a serenade of "Fa-ra-ra-ra-ra" from the Chinese restaurant workers? Politically incorrect caroling aside, if you find yourself eating out this Christmas, your meal could be much the same. ...
