Rescuers feared the worst Sunday afternoon when reports were received of an overturned, burning car with a victim trapped inside on U.S. 231 South a half-mile south of Snell Road. Trail of damage on Madison Street
A wild accident early this morning on Madison Street left a block-long trail of damage, three vehicles and two refrigerators totaled and major damage to two buildings. The unoccupied truck at top, parked at Blue's Auto Sales, was knocked an entire city block across King Avenue and through the side of Creative Touch Florist and Catering after being hit by a truck (above) driven by Sandra Tutt of Chapel Hill. At left, Blue Farrar inspects damage to the Farrar's Wrecker Service building. Tutt told police she lost control of her truck after another driver merged into her lane about 6:30 a.m., Sgt. James Wilkerson said.

A trail of glass follows the path from which Jason Faulk, 37, of Clyde Gleaves Road was thrown from his vehicle into a fence late Thursday afternoon on Fairfield Pike just west of Fairfield. Faulk was airlifted from the Cascade High School football field to Vanderbilt Medical Center. Brandon Perry, 21, of Bell Buckle, driver of the black Honda, was seriously injured when his Honda Civic was struck in the passenger door by the truck driven by Danny Brown, 55, of Bell Buckle late Sunday morning. A helicopter airlifted Perry from the nearby Cascade High football field to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
