'She was the best': remembering Ruth Coop

Ruth Coop, who retired in May after 38 years with the Times-Gazette's advertising department, most of it as advertising manager, died this morning at her home in Shelbyville after an extended battle with cancer. T-G Publisher Hugh Jones praised Mrs. Coop's contribution to the newspaper and said that, while he didn't have much opportunity to work with her personally, he soon discovered how highly regarded she was in his conversations with newspaper industry officials from across the state...

Bell Buckle did not appoint a land use committee as expected following an opinion from the Municipal Technical Advisory Service [MTAS] that a similar committee already existed -- the Bell Buckle Planning Commission. Mayor Linda Key informed the town's Board of Aldermen that, following many conversations with Don Darden of MTAS, it "was not necessary" to appoint a land use committee "since that is what the Planning Commission is."...
