Marion Louise "Lou" Holton, 64, of Shelbyville, who died Wednesday at Bedford County Medical Center, will be 10 a.m. Friday at Hillcrest Funeral Home. The Rev. Ron DeWitt will officiate and burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Funeral services for Estelle Mozelle McGowan Smith, 86, of Shelbyville, who died Monday at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, were held Wednesday at Hillcrest Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Beatty officiated and burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

Bell Buckle rescinds referendum request (Local News ~ 05/12/05)
A measure that called for a referendum on the annexation of 210 acres of property outside of Bell Buckle was officially rescinded Tuesday night and other matters were discussed over the controversial issue of growth. Alderman Dennis Webb told the Bell Buckle board he spoke to Don Darden of the Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS) who said it would be proper to rescind the motion on the referendum "to show that we are compliant with the Coordinator of Elections office."... -
Grand Jury likely to get Casteel case (Local News ~ 05/12/05)
The man charged with robbing four stores here and one each in Tullahoma and Chapel Hill will probably send his four local robbery cases to the grand jury, his lawyer said Wednesday. Meanwhile, an examination of warrants sworn out by Shelbyville Police detectives against Timothy Casteel, 20, formerly of Carney Street, but now a county jail inmate, shows he took $3,350 from the stores here... -

Several thousand dollars' worth of silver coins from 1932-64 and collector's 1990s-era Barbie dolls belonging to Jay Butts and his wife were stolen from their Crest Drive home over the weekend, Shelbyville police were told Monday. Two accused of TennCare fraud (Local News ~ 05/12/05)
Two Marshall County residents have been charged with TennCare fraud after officials say they used a TennCare card to get forged prescriptions filled at a Lewisburg pharmacy. The suspects are Amanda Marie Harris, 29, and Timothy Craig Spain, 34, both of Lewisburg, according to the TennCare Inspector General's office, which announced the arrests Wednesday... -
Errors haunt Cascade in 11-A title match (High School Sports ~ 05/12/05)
Trailing 1-0 to Forrest in the District 11-A Tournament final, Cascade got their offense clicking in the top of the fourth inning. The Wartrace Relay for Life Team will host its annual "Picnic on the Square" Saturday downtown at the Wellhouse.
