William Eugene "Gene" Sanders, 67, of Lewisburg died Sunday in Columbia. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lawrence Funeral Home in Chapel Hill with Jim Allison officiating. Burial will follow in Swanson Cemetary.

Graveside services for Mrs. Mary Linda McCarty, 66, of Shelbyville, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Glenn Forsee officiating. Mrs. McCarty died today at her home after an extended illness.

MANCHESTER -- A massive clap of thunder heralded the arrival of a weekend of wet, dreary weather in Manchester Friday afternoon, courtesy of Tropical Storm Arlene. It was met by applause. The rain didn't matter. This was Bonnaroo. A crowd of approximately 80,000 showed this year for the fourth annual music event, which headlined such acts like the Dave Matthews Band, the Allman Brothers Band and Widespread Panic along with nearly 80 other artists.
