Shooting suspect surrenders (Local News ~ 09/16/05)
The man suspected of firing at a Bedford County deputy surrendered Thursday after eluding officers for 17 hours without shoes or shirt in a wooded area near the Mount Herman community. Anthony "Tony" Leverette, 40, called dispatchers in Shelbyville shortly after noon from a Mount Herman Road home, saying he wanted to surrender. State Trooper Russell Humphreys, the nearest of many officers searching the area, arrested Leverette without incident and turned him over to deputies for transport...
