KNOXVILLE (AP) -- A Shelbyville man set to be executed next month for killing his three young sons and his ex-wife's daughter will undergo a mental evaluation, a federal judge ruled. Vise convicted of facilitation, not burglary (Local News ~ 08/02/06)
Facilitation, not actual burglary and theft, were what the state proved Monday against a man who'd been charged in a Unionville burglary last December, according to verdicts issued by a Bedford County jury Tuesday. There was a "lack of evidence" to convict Brian Foster Vise, 27, on two of the indicted offenses, according to Vicki Lambert, one of three jurors who spoke after the trial, as did Felicia Hardin who said the state "didn't have enough evidence" on those charges... -

Another Shelbyville Central Golden Eagle has signed a college baseball scholarship. Kelby Sanders became the fourth senior out of the recent graduating class to step up when he signed with Columbia State Community College last week. I was a bit amazed about recent criticism directed at David Melson for a column where he was pointing out some of the habits of immigrants in our community that may not be acceptable to most Americans. Namely coming into America illegally in vast numbers, behaving like you're still in a third world country and treating women like dogs, among other things...
