Fiber optic lines affect sewer placement (10/23/06)
CHAPEL HILL -- Installation of fiber optic lines on the east side of Horton Highway through town aggravated property owners so much that it's influenced a recommendation on where a sewer might be installed. That's Town Administrator Mike Hatten's conclusion after consulting with residents last week as directed by the Board of Mayor and Aldermen during the October meeting when the board told him to find out what the residents prefer...
Two events for two different children (10/23/06)
Two special events for two special kids are slated Saturday at Bell Buckle Park. Jeff and Tiffany Delk are inviting the community to celebrate the adoption of Christian Mormillo Delk at the Park from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday. The celebration is also an expression of gratitude by the Delks to the community for the support and kindness during the battle they had fought in Florida courts to regain custody of Christian from his foster parents...
Mural brightens school cafeteria (10/23/06)
Community Elementary School cafeteria workers were tired of the "moon glow" yellow walls in their serving area, so they did something about it. Community High School's art teacher, Teresa Barnes, was consulted and she enlisted the assistance of a friend, Shannon Hart, and a mural was painted with-in nine hours last Monday. So on Tuesday, students had something new to see in the cafeteria...
Gamecocks ruin Vandy's homecoming 31-13 (10/23/06)
NASHVILLE -- The Vanderbilt Commodores' bid for a second consecutive Southeastern Conference win was thwarted when South Carolina outscored them 31-13 on a picture perfect fall Saturday in front of 37,280 fans for homecoming at Dudley Field.
