Funeral services for Mildred Lucille Wade, 79, of Shelbyville, who died Wednesday at Glen Oaks Convalescent Center, will be 1 p.m. Friday at Gowen-Smith Chapel with Robert Byrd officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon Friday.

Stolen electric meter found on home (Local News ~ 02/01/07)
A Shelbyville Power Co. meter stolen from a North Main Street location was allegedly found on a Cottonwood Drive home, police say. The meter was confirmed as stolen by a power company representative, Officer Linda Adams said. Nicole Leigh Hays, 25, a resident of the home, was not charged in connection with the meter but does face charges of possession of a schedule VI drug (marijuana), child abuse/neglect/endangerment and introducing contraband into a penal institution. ... -

If your father was an animal trainer and your mother was an aerialist, which circus specialty would you choose? Sylvia Zerbini decided to have it both ways. Zerbini, who will visit Shelbyville later this month as part of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Gold Unit circus, created her own act, one which combines her love of horses with her abilities as a trapeze artist. City dog problem will be discussed (Local News ~ 02/01/07)
Shelbyville's city council will hold a special meeting on Feb. 13 to once again take up the issue of animal control, specifically what to do about vicious dogs. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the courtroom of the city hall annex. City Manager Ed Craig said that he felt the council wasn't anywhere near a pit bull ban, which had been one option discussed but instead to place restrictions on dogs "after they become bad."... -

LEWISBURG -- A Shelbyville-based bail bondsman has not violated a state law against unprofessional conduct because the signs at his recently-opened office next to the Marshall County Jail are advertising, not solicitations. LEWISBURG -- Circuit Court Judge Robert Crigler on Wednesday handed down another prison sentence for a Marshall County man caught in an undercover drug operation in the Wheel community in Bedford County. Chaddrick Lyttle, 23, of Lewisburg was taken into custody as a result of an investigation by the 17th Judicial District's Drug Task Force on Dec. 14, 2004, when Jikinte LaShane Morris, 27, also of Lewisburg, participated in the sale of crack cocaine for $300 to a confidential informant...
