Global warming advocates target children
(Column ~ 02/24/07)
One thing this writer finds disturbing about the "global warming" topic is the effect the constant hysterical propaganda is having on children who are exposed to it. Several weeks ago, I related memories of how we kids in the 1970's were told of all sorts of dire futures that awaited us unless we "did something" about the problems of global freezing, The Population Bomb, pollution, oil shortages and the potential death of every lifeform in the sea...

Bucky Griffy rides into his dream (Local News ~ 02/24/07)
The outside of a horse, according to Winston Churchill, is good for the inside of man. No matter the age nor the ability, a horse can be the legs that brings dreams to life. Nothing could be truer of a boy whose will to sit tall in the saddle changed not only his life but the life of a former show horse as well... -

A 35-year prison term for their sons' rapist provides some closure for a Bedford County husband and wife, proud of their new grandson from the marriage of one of their victimized sons. That young man and his brother are getting over a traumatic year of prosecution since they reported Edward Raven Odom, 30, as a rapist, according to their parents who spoke Friday on a condition of anonymity to protect the identity of their sons... -

Think about it: What would you do?
(Column ~ 02/24/07)
Seems like I got out of the habit of doing occasional "What would you do?" columns. It's time for their return. Put yourself in these four situations, three taken from local police reports we considered too minor or personal to publish as news items, and inagine a little bit. Keep in mind that these may be far from "minor" for those involved...
