Bedford County Financial Management Committee gave its recommendation Tuesday night to the $20.8 million expansion and renovation of Central High School. One thing this writer has an issue with is news stories that seem to be intended to scare the reader instead of informing them. One example is an article published by the Rockford Register Star in Illinois, which warned of a "mini-Y2K" due to the new switch-over date for Daylight Saving Time...

If, like me, you are signed up for the state's "Do Not Call" list, and if, like me, you are infuriated by those political calls which play recorded messages on behalf of a political candidate, you will be delighted that the State Senate voted on Monday to ban most automated calls, including political ones, to people who are on the "Do Not Call" list...
