Nunley, Brown strong on the hill for Champs (High School Sports ~ 03/19/07)
Chase Nunley went all seven innings on the hill to earn the win in Cascade's 8-5 defeat of visiting Huntland on a chilly Saturday. He struck out five while allowing six hits and three walks. Bicentennial coins available (Local News ~ 03/19/07)
Pre-orders are now being taken for coins, key tags and medallions celebrating Bedford County's bicentennial, the local bicentennial organizing committee heard this morning. Karen Thrasher and Jenny Hunt presented display models of each item. The coins and key tags will cost $10 each, while the medallion will be $30. Delivery is expected in four weeks... -
Holton case featured in documentary (Local News ~ 03/19/07)
A documentary film crew was here last week shooting scenes and interviewing people about Daryl Holton. The subject of the program is a law professor who videotaped Holton, who is on death row for killing his three sons and their sister. Professor Robert Blecker of the New York Law School in southern Manhattan is one of a very few people who have visited Holton since he's been incarcerated as a result of his conviction on four murder charges... -
Pancakes for a good cause (Local News ~ 03/19/07)
Despite some unease regarding serving time delays, last year's pancake supper sponsored by the Caregiver Relief Program of Bedford County proved a tremendous success -- both for the customer and the fund-raising effort. Caregiver board members have ironed out those delay issues and anticipate even greater success for the second annual pancake supper at First United Methodist Church, coming up Tuesday, April 10...
