A 'new' Hillary scandal
(Column ~ 11/10/07)
This writer's eyes have glazed over. I for one have already grown tired of the current presidential campaign, which still has another agonizing year to go. It kicked off mere moments after Bush was reelected in 2004. I clearly remember after John Kerry conceded the race that news anchors immediately when into long discussions about Hillary Clinton's chances in 2008, which effectively defined Bush as a lame duck, and he had not even been inaugurated yet...

Vol coverage: going too far?
(Column ~ 11/10/07)
A few days ago in my blog I chastised Tennessee football coach Phillip Fulmer for not disclosing why a player accused of repeated drug possessions was kicked off the team. Now comes Vol center Josh McNeil, who's upset because the media, especially the Knoxville News-Sentinel, ran details of a police report involving a smashed window and three drunk women he says were on his bedroom floor and media reports say were in his bed...

Late night comedy withdrawal
(Column ~ 11/10/07)
I am clearly in withdrawal. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love the late night talk and comedy shows -- especially "Late Show with David Letterman" and "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," but including Craig Ferguson, Jimmy Kimmel and Conan O'Brien. (Jay Leno bores me to tears, and I've always resented him for the way his management railroaded Letterman in the "Tonight Show" succession debacle.)...

Lucky the Bird brings joy to local family (Local News ~ 11/10/07)
Though the days of sun drenched hours are gone for a while, the birds of the air are still abundant in the skies of their middle Tennessee homes, including those in Bedford County. Their sonnets of song glide on the autumn breezes as the leaves sail the currents they share with the winged friends... -

Eagles reach end of playoff road (High School Sports ~ 11/10/07)
CLARKSVILLE -- No. 4 seed Shelbyville Central played much better than Friday's 42-14 score might indicate, but No. 1 seed Clarksville scored on six long plays in first round action of the TSSAA State Playoffs Friday night. The stat sheet might point out it was an extremely close game, but a number of big plays proved to be the difference... -
