Tillie E. Christ, 95, of St. Charles, Mo., died Tuesday. Funeral services will be 9:15 a.m. Friday at Stygar Mid Rivers Funeral Home in St. Charles followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at All Saints Catholic Church in St. Peters, Mo. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in St. Louis. Visitation with the family will be 4-8 p.m. today. She was the mother of Janet Powell of Shelbyville.

Last Wednesday, I'd been suffering through what I thought was just a stubborn cold. It had lasted almost two weeks, and I finally gave up and went to the doctor. The doctor said I had bronchitis; he wrote me prescriptions for an antibiotic and some weapons-grade cough syrup and sent me home from work for the rest of the week...
