Barbara Jolene Crocker, 64, of Shelbyville, died Sunday morning at Middle Tennessee Medical Center in Murfreesboro after an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Bobby McGee officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday.

Jobless rate highest in five years

The county's unemployment rate jumped to 7.5 percent, an increase of 36 percent over last year, according to preliminary figures released by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
