A headbanging, hardrocking time was to be had as I, along with my good friend Craig Easter, journeyed to Riverfront Park in Nashville to attend BuzzFest '08 Saturday. I'd been to other rock concerts with my family in the past, featuring such bands/singers as Styx, Bon Jovi and Stevie Nicks, but I was particularly looking forward to this show featuring Seether, Shinedown, Saving Abel, 10 Years, and Blackstone Cherry (all some of my favorite bands)...

Bell Buckle scores 94 on water system

After a year of drought, outdated sewers and costly water leakage, Bell Buckle finally has some good news. On a recent inspection by the state, the town received a score of 94 out of 100 on the water system. "It's the highest score we've ever gotten," said Janet Robinson, the town clerk and recorder. Flashing brake light led to pursuit, crash

County to buy 5 new police cruisers

Bedford County Board of Commissioners' law enforcement and workhouse committee voted to purchase five new sheriff's department cruisers from Russell Barnett Dodge at a cost of $28,284 each. It's been a few months since I began this column, and I've reported some mixed success. But today I think it's important for me to dwell on the positive. At my heaviest, a little more than a year ago, I weighed 256 pounds. When I started writing this column about three months ago, I weighed 244, so I had lost a total of 12 pounds in a little more than a year...
